The reality is that there are many options to choose from, but first it all depends on what you want.  There are so many who just want to talk about their dream car with the mega horsepower, that is ok, go ahead and dream.  We want to talk to the people who make that their reality, the ones who dedicate effort / action to [a car that performs well](https://www.5250performance.com/fabrication-services), is reliable, and exceeds expectations. * Here is our subaru engine packages short list:* **5250 Performance House Special** Shortblock - 400+ HP - EJ257 Case Halves - EJ257 Heat Treated Crankshaft - Manley AB Pistons 8.2:1 - Manley H-Beam Rods - ACL Bearings We start with brand new Subaru case halves, no extra machine work is needed, these come ready to assemble. Subaru has a marking on all of their cases for the tolerance of the bore size. This is either an "A" or a "B" . Manley manufactures their pistons in either the A or B size to match the OEM tolerances of Subaru's motors. This allows you to get as close to a custom machined fit for your pistons without having to do the extra machine work giving you a better performing motor at a lower cost. **5250 Performance Stage 2** Shortblock - 450+ HP - EJ257 Case Halves - EJ257 Heat Treated Crankshaft - Cosworth Pistons and Rings (8.2 or 9.2 :1) - Manley H-Beam Rods - ACL Bearings We start with our house special, but upgrade to Cosworth pistons and rings. Cosworth gives us the option to raise the compression ratio of the engine. This gives the motor a little extra grunt off boost and helps lower spool. This is a great option for vehicles that spend all of their time at high altitude. The Cosworth pistons have coated side skirts which help lower friction and noises associated with forged pistons. **5250 Performance Stage 3** Shortblock - 500+ HP [![Manley_connecting_rods](https://www.5250performance.com/hubfs/engine_pics/Manley_connecting_rods.png)](https://www.5250performance.com/subaru-turbocharged-gallery-of-owners-rides)- EJ257 Case Halves - ASF Machine Balanced EJ257 Heat Treated Crankshaft - Cosworth Pistons and Rings (8.2 or 9.2 :1) - Manley Turbo Tuff I-Beam Rods - King XPG Bearings Building on our stage 2 block, we take extra time to balance the main rotating assembly. By keeping unwanted vibrations at bay, we increase the reliability of the motor while freeing up power lost to friction. We chose Manley's beefed up Turbo Tuff rods to handle the increased torque loads expected at this level. The King bearings are designed to increase lubrication to the rod and main bearings with specially designed oiling ports.
